generation
Peers born together
Generation can designate either the process or the result of generating and it has specific meanings arising from that connection.
The most common use is to designate a group of people born around the same 30-year period.
Different generations are often characterized by adjectives and nouns that summarize something they have in common: the Greatest Generation, the Baby Boomer generation.
Within a family, a generation encompasses the individuals at the same distance from a common ancestor or descendant.
As a process, generation often refers to the production of electricity, which is sometimes called power generation.
