double elimination
Two-loss tournament structure
Double elimination is a tournament format where a competitor must lose twice before being eliminated.
Players who lose once move to a "losers bracket" and can still win the championship by fighting back through it: It's double elimination, so we're not out yet.
The format gives everyone a second chance while ensuring the eventual winner proves themselves against the field.
