staff
Workforce or rod
Staff has two core meanings.
One is a long stick used as a walking aid, weapon, or symbol of authority—a shepherd's staff, a wizard's staff, the staff of office.
The other meaning is the people employed by an organization: The staff meets every Monday.
As a verb, to staff is to provide workers: We need to staff the front desk.
In music, a staff is the set of five horizontal lines on which notes are written.
