backmatter

After main text

Backmatter is the material at the end of a book, following the main text.

This includes appendices, glossaries, bibliographies, indexes, and author notes.

Publishers and editors use the term to distinguish these closing sections from frontmatter (title page, table of contents) and the body of the work: The index goes in the backmatter.
