subject index
Alphabetical topic guide
A subject index is an alphabetical listing of topics covered in a book or collection, with page numbers or other locators directing readers to relevant content.
Unlike an author index or title index, it organizes material by what it's about: The subject index listed entries for agriculture, banking, and civil rights.
Most nonfiction books include one at the back.
