title
What champions hold
The title of a document, presentation, or work of art is its name.
When a person holds a title, it is something they have won in competition (a heavyweight title) or that has been given to them on the basis of some quality or distinction they possess (he inherited the title of marquess).
In law, title may refer to a section of a long statute (Title IX of the Higher Education Act) or to the right to property as represented by a document: I’ve lost the title to my car.
As a verb, titled usually appears as the participle titled and means called a certain thing: an exhibition aptly titled “Lumps and Bumps”.
