St Peter's
Rome's grand basilica
St Peter's refers to St Peter's Basilica, the massive Renaissance church in Vatican City and the world's largest Christian church building.
It stands over what tradition holds to be the burial site of Saint Peter, the apostle Jesus designated as the rock of the church.
We visited St Peter's on our trip to Rome.
The name also applies to St Peter's Square, the plaza before the basilica where crowds gather for papal addresses.
