Normandy invasion
Allied European liberation
The Normandy invasion was the Allied amphibious assault on German-occupied France on June 6, 1944—D-Day.
American, British, Canadian, and other forces landed on five beaches along the Normandy coast, establishing a foothold that led to the liberation of Western Europe.
It remains the largest seaborne invasion in history: His grandfather landed at Omaha Beach during the Normandy invasion.
