Hiroshima
First atomic target
Hiroshima is a Japanese city, site of the first atomic bomb used in warfare on August 6, 1945.
The bombing killed over 100,000 people and hastened Japan's surrender in World War II.
The name has become shorthand for nuclear devastation and the moral weight of atomic weapons: We can't allow another Hiroshima.
