European theater
Old World stage
The European theater refers to the geographic region of military operations in Europe during a major war, especially World War II.
The term distinguishes European combat zones from other areas of conflict: His grandfather served in the European theater while his uncle fought in the Pacific.
Theater in this sense means an area where significant military action occurs.
