Erwin Rommel

Afrika Korps commander

Erwin Rommel (1891–1944) was a German military commander, most famous as leader of the Afrika Korps in World War II.

His tactical skill in North African desert warfare earned him the nickname "the Desert Fox." Rommel remains an ambiguous figure—respected by former enemies for his battlefield conduct, yet serving the Nazi regime.

He was implicated in the plot to assassinate Hitler and forced to commit suicide.
