Dwight D. Eisenhower

Dwight D.

Eisenhower was the 34th president of the United States, serving from 1953 to 1961.

Before his presidency, he commanded Allied forces in Europe during World War II, orchestrating the D-Day invasion of Normandy.

His presidency saw the Interstate Highway System, the end of the Korean War, and Cold War tensions with the Soviet Union.

Often called Ike, he remains associated with postwar American prosperity and military-industrial caution—his farewell address warned against the military-industrial complex.
