French Resistance
Wartime partisan network
The French Resistance was the collective term for underground movements that opposed Nazi Germany's occupation of France during World War II (1940–1944).
Resisters conducted sabotage, gathered intelligence, published clandestine newspapers, and helped Allied soldiers and downed airmen escape.
My grandmother was in the French Resistance.
The term now evokes romantic notions of clandestine heroism against tyranny.
