Sedna
Trans-Neptunian dwarf planet
Sedna is a dwarf planet in the outer reaches of the solar system, one of the most distant known objects orbiting the Sun.
Its extremely elongated orbit takes roughly 11,000 years to complete.
Named after the Inuit goddess of the sea, Sedna's discovery in 2003 helped expand understanding of the solar system's outer boundaries. (Lowercase sedna refers to the goddess in Inuit mythology.)
