blanket toss
Group throwing game
A blanket toss is a traditional activity, especially among Inuit peoples, where a person stands on a large hide or blanket held taut by a circle of people who launch them into the air by pulling the edges down and out in unison.
The person being tossed can reach considerable heights.
Historically used for spotting game across flat terrain, it now appears mainly at celebrations and festivals: The blanket toss is a highlight of the Nalukataq whaling festival.
