Cree
Canadian Indigenous people
Cree refers to a group of Indigenous peoples whose traditional territories span from the Rocky Mountains to the Atlantic coast across Canada, one of the largest First Nations populations in North America.
The term also designates their Algonquian language, which has several dialects: She speaks Cree fluently.
Plains Cree, Woods Cree, and Swampy Cree are among the major divisions.
The Cree Nation has been at the forefront of Indigenous rights advocacy in Canada.
