Inuits

Indigenous Arctic inhabitants

Inuits is a plural of Inuit, the indigenous peoples of Arctic regions including northern Canada, Alaska, and Greenland.

Inuit is already plural in Inuktitut (the singular is Inuk), so Inuits represents an English adaptation.

The term has largely replaced Eskimo, which many Inuit consider offensive.

The Inuits of Nunavut have inhabited the Arctic for thousands of years.
