Arctic Circle

Midnight sun's threshold

The Arctic Circle is an imaginary line of latitude at approximately 66.5° north, marking the boundary of the Arctic region.

North of this line, the sun remains above the horizon for at least one full day in summer (midnight sun) and below it for at least one full day in winter (polar night).

Few people live above the Arctic Circle.
