waterjet

High-pressure cutting tool

A waterjet is a high-pressure stream of water, or the device that produces it.

In manufacturing, waterjet cutters slice through metal, stone, and other materials using water forced through a narrow nozzle, sometimes mixed with abrasive particles.

Waterjets also appear in cleaning equipment, dental tools, and boat propulsion systems: The sculptor used a waterjet to shape the granite.
