intensifier

Makes something stronger

An intensifier is a word that amplifies or strengthens another word's meaning without adding new information.

Very, really, extremely, and absolutely are common intensifiers: very cold, really important, absolutely brilliant.

Some intensifiers derive from vulgar words: fucking amazing, damn good.

Overuse weakens their effect—if everything is very important, nothing stands out.
