ventricles
Blood-pumping cavities
Ventricles are chambers in the body that hold fluid.
The heart has two ventricles—the lower chambers that pump blood out to the lungs and body.
The brain has four ventricles, cavities filled with cerebrospinal fluid.
The term appears almost exclusively in medical and anatomical contexts: The left ventricle showed signs of enlargement.
