fourth ventricle

Hindbrain fluid chamber

The fourth ventricle is a diamond-shaped cavity in the brain, located between the brainstem and cerebellum.

It connects to the third ventricle above and the spinal canal below, serving as part of the pathway through which cerebrospinal fluid circulates.

Tumors compressing the fourth ventricle can obstruct fluid flow and cause hydrocephalus.
