right ventricle

Pulmonary blood source

The right ventricle is the lower right chamber of the heart, receiving deoxygenated blood from the right atrium and pumping it to the lungs through the pulmonary artery.

Its walls are thinner than the left ventricle's because it only needs to push blood the short distance to the lungs rather than throughout the body.
