finite element
Discretized structural analysis
Finite element refers to a computational method that breaks complex structures or systems into small, simple pieces (elements) to analyze stress, heat flow, or other physical behaviors.
Engineers use finite element analysis to simulate how bridges flex under load or how engines dissipate heat: The finite element model predicted where the beam would fail.
Each element is mathematically tractable; their combined behavior approximates the whole.
