transgenic
Carrying foreign DNA
Transgenic describes an organism whose genetic material has been altered by introducing DNA from another species.
Scientists create transgenic mice, fish, and crops for research and agriculture: transgenic corn resistant to pests, transgenic mice used in cancer studies.
The technique allows traits to cross species boundaries that couldn't interbreed naturally.
