tigon

Male-striped cat's offspring

A tigon is the hybrid offspring of a male tiger and a female lion.

Tigons are rare, occurring almost exclusively in captivity, and are typically sterile.

They tend to be smaller than ligers (the reverse cross) because they inherit growth-inhibiting genes from both parents.

The zoo's tigon attracted curious visitors.
