Monsanto

Roundup's original maker

Monsanto was an American agrochemical and biotechnology corporation, now a byword for corporate malfeasance in agriculture.

The company produced Agent Orange, PCBs, and became synonymous with genetically modified crops and aggressive patent enforcement against farmers.

Acquired by Bayer in 2018, the name Monsanto was retired but remains potent shorthand for critics of industrial agriculture and genetic modification: Monsanto is everything wrong with Big Ag.
