human cloning
Copying a person
Human cloning is the creation of a genetically identical copy of a human being.
The term usually refers to reproductive cloning—producing a new person from one individual's DNA—though therapeutic cloning creates embryonic cells for medical research without developing a full organism.
Human reproductive cloning remains illegal in most countries and has never been successfully performed: The ethics of human cloning dominated bioethics debates in the 1990s.
