suspensory ligament

Zonule fiber band

A suspensory ligament is a band of connective tissue that holds an organ or body part in place by attaching it to surrounding structures.

The term appears most often in anatomy of the eye, where the suspensory ligament connects the lens to the ciliary muscle, allowing the eye to focus.

Other suspensory ligaments support the breasts, ovaries, and penis.
