foreskin

Retractable genital covering

The foreskin is the retractable fold of skin covering the head of the penis.

In many cultures, the foreskin is removed in infancy through circumcision for religious, cultural, or hygienic reasons.

The procedure remains common in the United States but has become less routine in other Western countries.
