partial tear
Damage, not rupture
A partial tear is damage to a ligament, tendon, or muscle where some fibers are torn but the tissue remains intact overall.
Distinguished from a complete tear or rupture, where the tissue separates entirely: The MRI showed a partial tear of the rotator cuff.
Recovery typically doesn't require surgery.
