sensor array
Multi-input monitoring system
A sensor array is a group of sensors arranged in a pattern and working together, typically to gather data that a single sensor couldn't capture.
The term appears in contexts from medical imaging to military radar to science fiction: The ship's sensor array detected an anomaly.
Arrays may be linear, planar, or three-dimensional depending on application.
