tracking station
Satellite surveillance facility
A tracking station is a ground-based facility that monitors and communicates with spacecraft, satellites, or missiles.
These stations use radar and radio equipment to follow objects through space, collect telemetry data, and send commands: NASA's network of tracking stations maintains contact with the International Space Station.
The term also applies to facilities that monitor wildlife fitted with radio transmitters.
