schooners

Tall masted boats

Schooners are sailing vessels with two or more masts, rigged fore-and-aft—the sails run along the length of the ship rather than across it.

They were workhorses of 18th and 19th century coastal trade, prized for speed and maneuverability with small crews.

A schooner is also a tall beer glass, typically holding a pint or more: He ordered a schooner of lager.
