cargo hold
Freight storage compartment
A cargo hold is the compartment in a ship or aircraft where goods and freight are stored during transport.
On ships, the hold is typically below deck; on planes, it's the pressurized space beneath the passenger cabin where checked luggage and cargo travel: The crew loaded containers into the cargo hold.
