riggin'

Ship's rope system

Riggin' is an informal spelling of rigging, capturing the dropped g of casual speech.

It most often appears as a present participle: They were riggin' up the sails before dawn.

The term covers the same ground as rigging—setting up equipment, arranging ropes and tackle on a vessel, or manipulating outcomes dishonestly: Someone's been riggin' the election.

The apostrophe marks the pronunciation rather than any shift in meaning.
