rhinoceros
Africa's armored giant
A rhinoceros is a massive herbivorous mammal native to Africa and Asia, distinguished by one or two horns on its snout and thick, folded skin.
Often shortened to rhino.
Several species are critically endangered due to poaching for their horns.
We saw a rhinoceros at the watering hole.
A rhinoceros in the room is a variant of the more common elephant metaphor for an obvious problem everyone ignores.
