rhinoceroses

Thick-skinned African beasts

Rhinoceroses is the plural of rhinoceros, a large thick-skinned mammal with one or two horns on its snout.

Several species exist in Africa and Asia, all endangered due to poaching for their horns.

The word is often shortened to rhinos: Rhinoceroses are among the largest land animals.
