A snout is the projecting nose and mouth of an animal, especially a pig or dog.
The word extends to anything that resembles this shape—the front of a glacier, the nozzle of a hose, or a person's nose (usually disparagingly): Keep your snout out of my business.
In British slang, a snout is a police informer or a cigarette.
