Study of behavior
Psychology is the scientific study of the mind and behavior—how people think, feel, and act.
The field spans clinical practice (treating mental disorders), research (cognition, development, personality), and applied work (industrial, educational, forensic).
In casual use, psychology often means the mental characteristics of a person or group: the psychology of voters, I don't understand his psychology.
To use psychology on someone is to manipulate them through insight into their thinking.
