psychologist
Studies human behavior
A psychologist studies the mind and behavior.
The term covers researchers investigating cognition, perception, or development, as well as clinicians who assess and treat mental health conditions.
A psychologist typically holds a doctoral degree but is not a medical doctor—My psychologist recommended therapy rather than medication.
The word also applies loosely to anyone perceptive about human nature: She's a natural psychologist.
