shame
Dishonor's inner weight
Shame is the painful feeling of having done something wrong, foolish, or disgraceful—or of being exposed as inadequate.
It differs from guilt, which focuses on the act; shame focuses on the self.
She couldn't meet their eyes from shame.
To shame someone is to cause this feeling or to publicly disgrace them.
A shame is also something regrettable: It's a shame you couldn't come.
To put to shame is to outclass completely: Her cooking puts mine to shame.
Shameless means without shame, usually as criticism.
