Milgram

Shock experiment psychologist

Milgram refers to Stanley Milgram, an American social psychologist best known for his controversial obedience experiments conducted at Yale in the 1960s.

In these studies, participants were instructed to administer what they believed were painful electric shocks to others, revealing how ordinary people could be led to harm strangers when directed by authority figures.

The Milgram experiment has become shorthand for discussions of conformity, obedience, and the banality of evil.
