Pavlov

Dogs and bells

Ivan Pavlov was a Russian physiologist (1849–1936) who discovered classical conditioning while studying digestion in dogs.

He found that dogs began salivating at sounds they associated with food, not just food itself.

His name appears in Pavlovian response—any automatic, unthinking reaction to a stimulus: Mention pizza and I have a Pavlovian response to check my phone for delivery apps.
