LED

Efficient bulb alternative

LED stands for light-emitting diode, a semiconductor that emits light when electrical current passes through it.

LEDs are now ubiquitous in screens, indicators, light bulbs, and displays, having largely replaced incandescent lighting for efficiency: LED bulbs last for years, an LED screen.

The plural is LEDs. (Lowercase led is the past tense of lead.)
