point of order
Meeting rules challenge
A point of order is a formal objection raised during a meeting or debate, claiming that rules of procedure are being violated.
A member interrupts to say Point of order, Mr. Chairman when they believe something improper is happening—speaking out of turn, straying from the topic, or violating bylaws.
The presiding officer then rules on whether the objection is valid.
