bailiff

Courtroom order enforcer

A bailiff is a court officer who maintains order, escorts defendants, and manages jurors during trials.

In some jurisdictions, bailiffs also serve legal documents and execute court orders.

Historically and in British usage, a bailiff is an agent who manages a landlord's estate or collects debts: The bailiff came to seize their belongings for unpaid rent.
