ohms

Electrical resistance measures

Ohms are units measuring electrical resistance—how much a material opposes the flow of electric current.

Named after German physicist Georg Ohm, the unit is central to Ohm's law, which relates voltage, current, and resistance.

A wire with high ohms resists current more than one with low ohms.

Symbol: Ω.
