farad

Measures charge storage

A farad is the standard unit of electrical capacitance—the ability to store electric charge.

Named after physicist Michael Faraday.

One farad is actually enormous for most applications, so capacitors are typically measured in microfarads or picofarads: a 100-microfarad capacitor.

The symbol is F.
