watt
Bulb brightness measure
A watt is a unit of power measuring the rate of energy transfer—one joule per second.
Named for Scottish inventor James Watt, it quantifies electrical consumption a 60-watt bulb, mechanical output a 250-watt motor, and other energy flows.
Kilowatts and megawatts scale up for larger applications.
The space heater draws 1500 watts.
